Fretting fatigue of ceramic materials

In the sub-project C6, experimental characterization and material-scientific interpretation of the damage behaviour of engineering ceramics with superposed cyclic loading and tribological loads are investigated. As main influences the frequency, amplitude and basic load of the mechanical stress, the tribological stress, consisting of contact force and slipping amplitude of a fretting compound and the testing temperature are considered. Tests are carried out at alumina (F99,7 from FriaTec) and Silicon-nitride (SL200BG from CeramTec).
